Six residents were injured and one child’s life was in danger, the police prefecture said. A firefighter was also injured during the operation in Stains. According to authorities, the three people who died were the tenant of an apartment on the third floor, her sister and a friend.
A six-year-old boy living on the first floor was critically injured in the fire. 88 fire fighters and 24 vehicles responded to the fire in the six-story building.
The cause of the fire has yet to be determined. The community accommodated other residents and neighbors in a sports hall. The building with an estimated 15 residents should be renovated next week and the residents will be moved to temporary accommodation, as Mayor Azzedine Taibi explained. Stains is located approximately 15 kilometers north of the capital.
