The president is already on Uruguayan soil after meeting in the Chinese capital with his counterpart Xi Jinping and achieving the signing of more than 24 agreements.

President Luis Lacalle Pou Return to Uruguay this morning after a trip to China whose objective was to deepen diplomatic and commercial relations with the Asian giant, one of the country’s main export destinations. After the successful trip to China, in which he even managed to get the host president Xi Jinping committed to “progress rapidly” in the consolidation of the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) between both countries, the president Lacalle Pou He returned to the country and, after the change of command ceremony in which Vice President Beatriz Argimón and the Secretary of the Presidency were present Alvaro Delgado, resumed its full functions in the national territory.

Lacalle Pou was accompanied abroad by the Ministers of Foreign Affairs (MRREE), Omar Paganini, and Economy and Finance (MEF), Azucena Arbeleche.

A productive tour that predicts more growth

Lacalle Pou highlighted the “firm and growing” path in which relations between Uruguay and China as a balance of his trip to the Asian country; and assured that the Chinese president’s phrase Xi Jinping on the consolidation of a Free Trade Association It was “the one we were waiting for, the phrase that makes us predict growth in the economic link.”

Lacalle Pou, who highlighted “the warmth, the hospitality of the government and the Chinese people” in the reception of the Uruguayan delegation – made up of more than 45 people, including government authorities and businessmen –, he also emphasized that the ties between both countries are “ based on the trust”, as well as in “the cooperation and the complementarity of our economies.”
