Áñez assumed the Presidency of Bolivia after the expulsion of Evo Morales from power, in the midst of a popular revolt that had the support of the right and the military.
Morales’ forced resignation was in response to elections in which he was named the winner but were questioned by the opposition and the OAS, although it was later confirmed that there were no irregularities.
