“To avoid infections and further spread, masks are a safe protection. People with risk factors in particular should take this into account. We recommend that you, but also everyone else, be vaccinated against Covid-19 and against influenza. Washing your hands is also important,” emphasized the doctor in a broadcast from the ÖGK. A total of 297,000 people reported sick to the ÖGK with a variety of illnesses or injuries in the previous week.
The increase in SARS-CoV-2 virus detections that began in July also continued in corona wastewater monitoring. In the past few weeks, there have been around 1,500 people in hospitals with respiratory diseases, including around 700 with Covid-19.
