After two months of construction, extensive construction work on the Traunseetram in the Gschwandt area was completed. A new, 65 meter long, barrier-free central platform was built at the Gschwandt-Rabesberg stop. There is also a covered waiting area with a passenger information system, a park & ride facility with three parking spaces and covered parking spaces for bicycles and mopeds.

The tracks were also renewed over a length of 1.8 kilometers. The substructure and superstructure as well as the drainage systems were also renewed. Trains can now run faster and more comfortably. “Our continuously increasing passenger numbers underline the importance of these measures,” said Günter Baumann, Managing Director of Stern & Hafferl Verkehrsgesellschaft.

At the opening in the driving snow, Baumann was able to welcome mayor Fritz Steidl (ÖVP) and Herbert Kubasta, managing director of the Upper Austrian Transport Association, as well as state political celebrities, including State Transport Councilor Günther Steinkellner (FPÖ). He pointed out that more and more people can enjoy the Traunseetram for their daily commute to work without traffic jams.
