Unemployment among young people up to 24 years old continues to rise and rose to 26.5%

The lack of work has worsened in recent months for Uruguayan youth, since they also grew up in the 25 to 29 age group.

He unemployment among youth up to 24 years continues to rise in Uruguay and it has already climbed to 26.5% of the total, while the lack of work in the 25 to 29 age group also grew.

The data comes from the latest differential labor market report prepared by the National Institute of Statistics (INE)corresponding to the month of October.

In it, it is observed that the unemployment among youth 14 to 24 years old went from 26.4% in September to 26.5% during October, and the rate among Uruguayans 25 to 29 years old went from 12.1% to 12.3%.

In turn, the activity rates among youths 14 to 24 years old and 25 to 29 years old were 42.8% and 87.3%, respectively, while the employment rate was 31.5% and 76.5%, respectively.

The unemployment rate decreases as the age groups advance

As for the other age groups, there is 7% of unemployed people in the 30 to 34 age group; 5% among those between 35 and 44 years old; 4.5% from 45 to 54 years old; 4.2% for Uruguayans who are between 55 and 64 years old; and finally, 3.7% for those aged 65 or over.

Likewise, in the work differential according to sex, a higher unemployment rate was recorded among women, with 9.9%, while that of men was 7.5%.

On the other hand, according to the indicators by educational level, the lack of work among those who have incomplete basic education (or less) is 10.4%; among those who have completed basic cycle or incomplete upper secondary education 10.2%; those who have completed secondary or incomplete tertiary education 9%; and among Uruguayans with completed tertiary education or postgraduate degrees, 2%.
