It is very manageable, the city center between the main square and the southern country road, between Pfarrplatz and the small streets. “Almost everything here can be done in 15 minutes, even on foot,” says Hofmann and, like other people of his generation, is surprised that “cars are driving and parking everywhere in the center.” That’s why he started a petition a few days ago to achieve regular mobility days. On these days, pedestrians and cyclists should have priority – as is the case at the Linz Marathon or the Pavement Spectacle.
The Linzer appeals to those responsible to offer the Herrenstrasse model throughout the city center “once a month.” More than 250 people have signed the petition that the “Linz+” city council faction is submitting to the local council as a “citizen’s proposal”. “With this idea for revitalizing the city center, Hofmann is giving us an open door,” says parliamentary group leader Lorenz Potocnik.
