Passers-by alerted the police and the Afghan was arrested. Even in police custody, he did not calm down and tried to injure the officers with kicks after threatening them, the Styria State Police Directorate said on Tuesday.

The man got into an argument with his work colleague at around 9:50 p.m. during a Christmas party in a restaurant in the city center. Suddenly, the 32-year-old squeezed her hands together while holding a glass in her hand. The woman suffered cuts to her hand. The man then threatened to kill his colleague and rioted in the guest room.

Passers-by informed arriving police officers that the escapee then tried to injure a tram driver by hitting him in the face. Since the man refused to calm down, he was temporarily arrested.

Even in the police station, the 32-year-old didn’t believe in de-escalation – he threatened the officers and tried to injure them with kicks. Criminal investigators from the city police command took over the investigation. The man was reported to be at large.
