HTL Wels creates a monument for human rights

The Welser HTL is working on a monument for human rights in cooperation with the Stadl-Paura Technical Middle School. It will be set up in spring on Traunfallweg, which is part of the Capital of Culture “Salzkammergut 2024”. The monument represents the symbol of human rights and visualizes the earth and nature in the form of a globe and a tree trunk. The idea arose from a sketch created by the imaginative students of TNMS Stadl-Paura for the “Arena of Human Rights” project run by the Traunfall cultural heritage association.

This sketch was passed on to the HTL Wels. There, young people implement the project technically in a free object. The students will design and build the monument and also install it at its future location. The artistic glass elements are manufactured by the Schwanenstadt glassworks.

“This cross-school and cross-regional project shows once again how well students’ commitment to peace and human rights can be meaningfully combined with technology,” says Bertram Geigl, director of the HTL Wels.

Not only are students taught technical know-how, but they are also encouraged to actively participate in social projects.

The HTL Wels invites you to an open day on December 1st (1 p.m. to 5 p.m.). In addition to the school’s focus, information is also provided about current projects that promote creativity and social skills.
