After Jonas Kaufman, Elina Garanca, Placido Domingo, Jose Carreras and Piotr Beczala, she was the missing piece in the puzzle of renowned audience stars at Klassik am Dom: Anna Netrebko will be making a guest appearance – as always, along with her husband Yusif Eyvazov, who sings in the tenor register – on August 23, 2024 Symphony Orchestra of the Vienna Volksoper under St. Mary’s Cathedral in Linz.
The 100,000 mark falls this year
“Our efforts for both of them go back years, so I’m very happy that it’s now come to fruition,” says “Klassik am Dom” organizer Simon Ertl. As for Netrebko’s stance on Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, he says: “I think such things need to be addressed, but at the end of the day art needs to be at the top.”
Simon Ertl launched the cathedral series in 2011, and this year his invention will exceed the 100,000 visitor mark. This is also supported by the program, which offers high-quality food across all genres. Ertl: “That’s also the key to our program: high-quality stars of all genres in an incomparable ambience under Linz’s Mariendom.”
Jazz fans can look forward to a return Diana Krall, who already impressed under St. Mary’s Cathedral in 2016, are happy. Krall is among the singer-songwriters alongside Norah Jones in the “Grande Dame” category, says Ertl, and her concert will take place on July 11th.
