The Uruguayan drug trafficker already has a Red alert issued at the request of Paraguay for drug trafficking. Meanwhile, according to Interpol, a red alert has the objective of “locating and detaining wanted persons with a view to their prosecution or to serve a sentence,” while the blue is “to get more” information regarding the identity of a person, their whereabouts or their criminal activities in relation to a criminal investigation.”

Del Castillo reported at a press conference that this Monday Interpol announced to the Bolivian government that its request for the blue alert against the drug trafficker had been accepted with the aim of finding his whereabouts. “Now he will be wanted internationally for the crimes he committed in Bolivia”, del Castillo explained.

In that country, marset has an arrest warrant for six criminal proceedings. Among the crimes is the creation of a criminal organization dedicated to drug trafficking, kidnapping, legitimization of illicit profits, illicit carrying of weapons, trafficking of controlled substances, among others.

The government’s position

The president was consulted about the possibility of the prosecutor’s office negotiating with the defender of marset for him to surrender in Uruguay for a minor crime and thus avoid being extradited to Paraguay.
