The young woman and her 15-year-old son installed a wood stove in the boy’s bedroom on Thursday evening. However, when installing the stove, they forgot to check the chimney seal in the mother’s room.
After using the oven for the first time, the two residents noticed smoke in the anteroom around 10:30 p.m. In the mother’s bedroom they discovered that the wardrobe, which was directly in front of the fireplace, was on fire.
Mother and son immediately called the fire department and got to safety. The apartment building was evacuated by the fire department and the fire was extinguished. The emergency services were on duty until half past one in the morning. Nobody got hurt. The extent of the damage is not yet known.
