The Minister of Economy and Finance is participating in the Conference on Climate Change-COP28.
The Minister of Economy and Finance, Azucena Arbeleche, will speak about the government’s environmental agenda during the Conference of United Nations on Climate Change-COP28, with the sovereign bond indexed to climate change indicators as one of the main showcases of Uruguay on an international level.

Arbeleche will speak about the link between productive development and care for the environment and climate change, with another key axis such as the innovative loan with the World Bank, that will reward compliance with climate objectives with a significant reduction in interest rate.


The owner of the MEF will participate in the 28th annual Conference of the United Nations on Climate Change, which has already begun to develop in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, and will take place until next December 12.
Accompanied by the director of Debt Unit Management, Herman Kamil, and the advisor in environmental economics, Juan Labat, Arbeleche will participate in panels and forums with the objective of presenting and promoting innovative financial instruments and coordination between different ministries in advancing the environmental agenda.

Uruguayan milestones in climate matters
From the economic portfolio they highlighted the green bonus and the loan of world Bank as milestones that “have a great impact on increasing the foreign investment and the positioning of the agricultural production”.
