The head-on collision occurred at 4:30 p.m. on the B120, in the municipality of Gschwandt. A 23-year-old was driving her car from Scharnstein towards Gmunden. Her 18-year-old sister was sitting in the passenger seat. At the same time, a 23-year-old was driving in the opposite direction. Because of the wintry road conditions and, according to the driver, his speed was not adjusted, his car skidded and collided with the oncoming vehicle. In the accident, the 23-year-old was trapped in the car and seriously injured. Her sister and the oncoming driver were also injured and taken to the Salzkammergut Clinic in Gmunden and Vöcklabruck. All those involved come from the Gmunden district.
