Danger imminent: Losenstein indoor swimming pool closed immediately

The bathing and sauna operations, as well as the restaurant operations, must also be temporarily stopped with immediate effect.

The community of Losenstein was informed on November 23rd by the manufacturer of the wooden support structure in the Losenstein indoor swimming pool that a static assessment would be necessary immediately. This was carried out on November 30th and, among other things, determined: “…there is therefore “IMMEDIATE DANGER” in the roof structure above the swimming pool. The area of the swimming pool and the restaurant area must therefore be closed immediately and renovated… “

Due to this statement and the heavy snowfall, the mayor, in his role as building authority, ordered the swimming pool to be closed with immediate effect on Saturday due to this statement and the heavy snowfall. The pool, sauna and restaurant are therefore closed to the public.

This short-term approach presents us all with very big challenges, it says on the Losenstein homepage, and is extremely regrettable, but in the interests of general safety there is no alternative in the context of the expected seasonal snow loads (see Bad Reichenhall collapse 2006).

Duration of ban unknown

The duration of the closure cannot be predicted, but it can be assumed to be at least 2 to 3 months depending on the extent of the renovation. At the same time, a renovation of the roof – which also has serious defects and numerous uncontrolled water ingress – is being evaluated with the state of Upper Austria. Local media will provide information about the further course of events in a timely manner, according to losenstein.at.

A solution will be worked out regarding compensation and further procedures for season tickets, blocks of 10 and vouchers that have already been purchased and will be announced over the next few weeks on the official noticeboard of the municipality of Losenstein and on www.losenstein.at.
