Steyrer freaked out in a rear-end collision in Braunau

The 32-year-old was out and about with his wife and two small children on Bahnhofstrasse in Braunau on Friday afternoon. He stopped at a red light. A 32-year-old from Braunau was driving behind the Steyr. He also wanted to stop, but his car skidded and collided with the Steyr’s car. He then left his car, went to the Braunauer’s car, opened the driver’s door, grabbed the man and hit him in the face with his fist. He threatened and insulted the other person in the accident.

Witnesses then called the police and two Braunau police patrols were at the scene of the accident shortly afterwards. The Styrian could hardly be calmed down; he insulted the officers while they were recording the accident. The Styrian was given a warning because of his aggressive behavior and because he didn’t stop insulting the Braunauer. He also denied being the driver of the car and stated that his wife was driving the car. However, witness statements confirmed that the Styrian was driving. An alcohol test finally showed 0.7 per mille.

The Steyr is reported to the Ried public prosecutor’s office due to bodily harm and dangerous threats, as well as to the Braunau district administration due to his failure to cooperate in establishing the facts of the case, as well as due to his drunkenness. The car driver from the Braunau district is reported to the Braunau district administration because he used summer tires on his car. There was minor damage to the two cars.
