With a project that is unique in Upper Austria, Krenglbach has now brought it “soil”-Prize from the Ministry of the Environment: The municipality does not want to dedicate any new space for construction projects until 2027 – unless the building applicant can prove that the project brings social, ecological and economic added value for the municipality. “This particularly impressed the jury”says Environment Committee Chairman Michael Pötzlberger (Greens).
Krenglbach has also been a member since 2006 “Ground alliance”2014 became one of the first there “Gravel lawn” built. This prevented the fire brigade and fishing club’s car park from being sealed with asphalt. It has also been around since 2016 “Ground Roas”. The educational trail with display boards and experience stations informs hikers and many school classes about the need for soil protection.
At the end of November, Environment Minister Leonore Gewessler (Greens) handed over a certificate and a climate ticket to Mayor Manfred Zeismann. The latter was raffled off at the Christmas market. “Krenglbach cannot cope with the erosion of the soil alone, but we want to do our part”says Zeismann.
