The government made an investment of about 242 million dollars (plus taxes) for the double track works in the route No. 9 along the section that connects the city of Sugar Loaf (Maldonado) with Rochacapital of the homonymous department.

The road works on the section between kilometers 106, in Pan de Azúcar, and 210, in Rocha, began in December 2022, and are expected to reach 40% progress by the end of the current year, according to the director of the company Traxpalco SA, Marcelo Borrelliwhich integrates, together with Colier SA and Hernández y González SA, the consortium of the Vial del Este group, the company awarded the contract.

Borrelli He assured that the 104 kilometers of works, which are 35% complete, will allow a duplication of the existing road, as well as the creation of two roads of 7.20 meters wide each. The awarded contract also includes maintenance for a period of 10 years.

The construction leader explained that the new road will be built with a pavement in accordance with the current loads, as well as with a state-of-the-art asphalt layer. For its part, the existing road will be resurfaced to have characteristics similar to the new one.

How are the works on Route 9 progressing?
