The line-up of next year’s Klassik am Dom series continues to fill up with top stars: After Anna Netrebko and Yusif Eyvazov, musical stars around Mark Seibert, the musical cabaret artists Pizzera and Jaus and jazz icon Diana Krall, organizer Simon Ertl is now presenting the wonderful Italian pop-blues musician Zucchero and Austropop veteran Peter Cornelius.
Zucchero, who was once called that by his teacher in school days because he looked so cute, will be performing on Cathedral Square on July 27th as part of his “Overdose D’Amore World Tour”.
The 67-year-old wanted a sit-down concert and in return delivered all of his hits – from the romantic “Diamante” and “La canzone che se ne va” to the rousing “Partigiano Reggiano” to the rocking “Baila Morena”. His duet “Miserere” with tenor legend Luciano Pavarotti (he will be recorded) is also on the set list. Zucchero is coming to Linz with his great band and the fantastic singer Oma Jali.
“The coffee is ready”
So while the Italian sweetens the cathedral square with his music, Peter Cornelius and his band deliver the coffee on August 24th. His song “The Coffee is Ready”, published in 1980, is part of the musical common knowledge of generations. The versatile and excellent guitarist with the distinctive voice also spoils his fans with other classics such as “Reif für die Insel”, “Segel im Wind” or “Du Sorry, I kenn di”. In addition to these big hits, the 72-year-old Cornelius also brings successful song gems such as “Gently is our fight” to Linz. (att)
