“As of today, we have already issued 1.9 million ID-Austria,” emphasized Digitization State Secretary Florian Tursky in a press release on Wednesday. There have been 300,000 activations since November. Cell phone signature users are automatically guided through the conversion steps.

ID-Austria meets “the highest security and data protection standards and is the master key for all digital government channels,” said Tursky. Everything that was previously possible with the cell phone signature can now also be done with the ID-Austria. As a central state digital identity, it makes secure digital online identification and digital ID services possible.
