Do something good by going to the theater? The OÖN Christkindl Gala on Thursday, December 14th makes this possible for its visitors: All local artists, from small to large, who will be on stage in the Schauspielhaus that evening will waive their fees in favor of needy people in Upper Austria. The net proceeds from ticket sales benefit the OÖN Christkindl campaign and projects of the “Sei So Frei” organization.

Program for every taste

The program offers something for every taste: whether music, readings or theater, whether from Austria or the world. The Blech Brass Brothers entertain with their music at the mulled cider reception before the official entrance at 7.30 p.m., and the 15-member Tanz Linz ensemble from the Landestheater presents an excerpt from their current play “Romeo and Juliet”. Singer and entertainer Eric Papilaya and OÖN-Christkindl editor Karoline Ploberger will lead you through the pre-Christmas evening in an atmospheric way.
Goaßlschnalzen meets Santa

The Austrian actress Chris Pichler also gives the OÖN-Christkindl wings this evening and tells funny Christmas stories before the students of the Musical Theater Academy Puchenau go on a desperate search for Santa.

With the Goaßlschnalzers, an Austrian tradition returns to the stage: Goaßlschnalzen comes from a time when everything was transported by cart. Back then, if you came to confusing places, you would use the so-called “Goaßln” to make yourself noticed.

Solidarity with fellow countrymen

Jazz singer Chanda Rule brings international flair to the Schauspielhaus. The Mühlviertler songwriter “beda mit palme” combines Christmas music with lively Austro reggae in one act. 40 young people will climb on stage at the Hard Choir – The New Generation and will enchant the hall with their voices.

The most important symbol of the Christkindl Gala: solidarity with Upper Austrians who are in need through no fault of their own. Every winter for 59 years it has been shown that the Upper Austrians do not abandon their compatriots. And so the Christkindl Gala will also end with a sign of solidarity.

If you don’t want to miss this colorful evening full of excitement for the upcoming Christmas, you can still purchase tickets: either directly online at landestheater-linz.at or by telephone at: 0732/7611-400.
