“The whole town is shocked, I knew Wolfgang very well. A family loses their father so shortly before Christmas, that’s very tragic,” says Herzogsdorf Mayor Alois Erlinger (VP). The 45-year-old lived with his family on a farm that he had taken over from his parents. His wife brought a son into the relationship, and their two sons (14 and 16 years old) made the family happiness perfect. Until Tuesday evening, when the family found their father lying motionless on the roof.
At around 8 p.m., Wolfang G. climbed onto the flat roof of his farm to shovel the snow from the solar panels. When he didn’t return, the family went looking for the man and eventually found him on the roof. The rescue workers who were alerted tried to resuscitate the 45-year-old, but Wolfang G. died on site.
It is still unclear exactly how the father of the family, who worked at a refrigeration technology company, died. A possible cause would be a heart attack, but the 45-year-old could also have stumbled and had an unfortunate fall. “It would be pointless to speculate now; we will know more after the autopsy,” says Mayor Erlinger. The funeral for Wolfgang G. will take place next Wednesday.
