The 41-year-old man and his 37-year-old partner are said to have set up a live trap with bait on their property and used it to catch cats. If a cat was caught in the trap, they would sink it into a pool while it was trapped in the cage and let it drown. The man is said to have disposed of the killed cats at a waste collection center.
The couple is said to have filmed the act at least once.
The two confessed to two killings when questioned by the police. The motive they gave was that the cats had torn young rabbits from the rabbit hutch.
The live trap was found during a house search and the couple is charged with animal cruelty.
It is not yet clear how many cats the couple killed.
