Today, fans can not only look forward to an eternally young classic on the ice, but also to the Black Wings Ladies Charity. Because on the sidelines of the 152nd league duel with the Vienna Capitals, the players’ wives are trying to earn as much money as possible for a good cause. 27,000 drink coasters – packed in packs of six at a price of five euros – are waiting for new owners. There is also a golden signature hidden in the sets for each player. Anyone who gets hold of these will also win a jersey for the respective player this year.

100 percent of the proceeds go to two charitable purposes: The Haidinger family from Ried in der Riedmark needs a ceiling lift for the impaired Isabel so that she can go swimming again and be lifted into bed. As in previous years, the other part of the donations goes to the Sterntalerhof children’s hospice, which looks after families with seriously ill children.

The players’ partners also receive support from main and match day sponsor Steinbach. After the Black Wings’ visit to the company premises in Schwertberg on Tuesday afternoon, where the people from Linz were invited to punch and bratwurst and had the opportunity to talk to many fans within the company, Steinbach donated punch, which was served in return for voluntary donations.

Penker back in the goal

After two days off from training following a strenuous weekend in Italy, the Black Wings will be able to concentrate all their strengths again on the last weekend before the international break. Thomas Höneckl had to sit out Thursday’s training because he took a shot. Because the Linz team was thinly staffed in goal due to the national team’s youth appearances, goalkeeper coach Jürgen Penker quickly changed back into his equipment. Höneckl should be available as a replacement in good time for the weekend.

There will be a change in defense, as Christoph Tialler will get minutes in the team there. He will therefore swap places with Lorenz Lindner this weekend.

Philipp Lukas: “A very physical game awaits us again. The Viennese will come and play hard. I really liked our physical game against Bozen and at HC Pustertal. If we can use this energy again tomorrow, we can win against any opponent . The swap in defense was already discussed with both players some time ago. Lorenz Lindner has fulfilled his duties very well so far, but we also want to give Christoph Tialler the chance to play.”
