Both were given emergency medical care by the Vienna Professional Rescue Service and taken to a hospital.

The driver and passenger fled on foot

Immediately after the accident, the 34-year-old and his still unknown passenger fled on foot. However, the driver was stopped after a short chase. He himself complained of pain in his shoulder but refused an examination. The man was temporarily arrested. He was reported on suspicion of resistance to state authority, severe coercion, serious bodily harm, intentional endangerment of the community and violation of the Narcotic Substances Act as well as several administrative violations. His questioning was still pending on Saturday and he was being held by the police.

It was only through luck and the careful behavior of other vehicle drivers and pedestrians that there were no more traffic accidents, the police wrote in a broadcast on Saturday. During his escape, the Serb also damaged several parked vehicles.

Cannabis herb seized

A small amount of cannabis herb was found in the car. The license plates attached to the getaway vehicle were stolen and were also confiscated. Whether the man is the legal owner of the getaway vehicle is the subject of investigations. He didn’t have a driver’s license. A medical officer diagnosed the 34-year-old as suffering from addiction.
