The vice president Beatriz Argimon has already started contacts with the Electoral Court faced with the possibility of changing the date of the internal elections in Uruguay, that will take place on June 30 of next year and coincide with the dates on which the America Cup in USA.
“We spoke with a minister of the Court, yesterday he told me that the Court was talking about this concern that is being handled at the parliamentary level,” Argimón said at a press conference, regarding the request that was first approached to him from the Wide Front and then in unity of the political parties with representation in the Legislative Palace.
In any case, the vice president indicated that the answer will not be obtained immediately nor necessarily affirmativeand that “it is essential” to know the times of the Court, “because it works according to an established schedule” that, moving forward the date, would modify significantly.

We are going to deepen the contacts and formally we are going to ask them to appear at a Work meeting in order to be able to give information whether it can actually be done or not, according to the professional work that the Court has to do,” Argimón added.
“In principle I asked the coordinators to bring the position of the benches of the Senate. In Deputies I still haven’t received any news; But the position expressed by the political parties is also very important, this is an initiative that arises from parliamentarians,” he concluded.
