The public prosecutor’s office accuses the young boy from the Urfahr-Raum district of grossly negligent homicide and two cases of grossly negligent bodily harm.
It’s about the accident on June 12th in Altenberg near Linz. So tragic: The 17-year-old had only passed his driving test a few hours before. He was driving with two friends (both 16) in his father’s car around 10 p.m.
The prosecution accuses the young driver of Driving too fast on the Weitrager state road in the dark. So he came to the right shoulder, the car skidded and crashed head-on into the car of an oncoming 36-year-old from Hellmonsödt.
The 36-year-old and a 16-year-old passenger did not survive the head-on collision. The other 16-year-old girl, like the 17-year-old, suffered serious injuries.
Up to 1.5 years imprisonment
In the case of grossly negligent homicide, the maximum penalty is three years, but for juveniles this is reduced by half to 1.5 years. The verdict is scheduled for Tuesday morning and we will report as soon as the result is available.
