Blinken urged Ukraine and the Russian Federation to implement the Minsk agreements

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken on Friday, December 3, speaking at the online forum Reuters Next, said that Russia and Ukraine must reaffirm their commitment to the implementation of the Minsk agreements on the settlement of the conflict in Donbass. The speech was broadcast in Twitter-the State Department account.

“Russia and Ukraine must make it clear that they are ready to implement the Minsk agreements,” the head of the State Department noted, adding that so far most of them have not been implemented.

The head of the American foreign policy department suggested that European countries will take serious measures against Moscow in the event of its confrontation with Kiev.

Earlier that day, United States President Joe Biden announced that his administration was preparing a number of comprehensive initiatives designed to prevent a possible Russian aggression against Ukraine. The American leader also noted that he maintains constant contact with the European allies of the United States and Ukraine on the emerging situation.

The day before, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said that he and Secretary of State Blinken had discussed Russia’s “containment measures” during their meeting in Stockholm. On the same day, Kuleba said that Kiev did not intend to conduct an offensive in the Donbass. According to him, “Ukraine is committed to a peaceful settlement of the conflict.”

On November 21, the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the West is artificially stirring up hysteria with its statements about the alleged preparation of Russia for an attack on Ukraine. He added that provocations are not ruled out, and NATO countries should stop “pumping up Ukraine with modern weapons.”

In addition, Peskov stressed that NATO should stop provocative activities near the Russian borders to determine a way out of the current tense situation in relations between the Russian Federation and the West. He added that under the guise of the alliance’s exercises in the Black Sea, Ukraine is most likely seeking another attempt to start a military solution to its internal problem.
