At the Bad Hall Carnevals Club (BHCC) “there are no privileges for politicians,” program director Anton Bartak swears mischievously, “we can’t make an exception for Bernhard either.” Every politician gets their fill at the carnival meetings, including Bernhard Ruf, who is putting on make-up in the dressing room this year for his sketch, in which he and his long-term stage partner Sonja Fahrnberger satirize the shopping spree over the Internet and online orders . When the mayor of Bad Hall rides his hobby horse as a carnivalist again, he will already be a Federal Councilor in the parliament in Vienna after a personnel castling in the state VP. “No mercy,” says Bartak, “as a federal politician, Bernhard will also have to endure a few foolish shouts from us during the program numbers.” Postscript: “He definitely has the sense of humor for it.”
On the ship of fools headed for the carnival meetings, the entire crew remained on board. Fredi Gegenhuber, the BHCC’s veteran, will once again leaf through the newspapers and give his two cents on the events of the year. Ernst Sieghartsleitner once again makes his rhyme about the political conditions in the EU, the federal government, the state and the spa town of Bad Hall as “Pompfüneberer” from his craft in a gloomy cemetery setting – a classic like Gegenhuber’s “What’s new?”. Word acrobat Leopold Waldl gave the working title “Magic Flute” to program director Bartak; he will use the language of the Mozart opera that was successfully performed in Bad Hall.
The guard will march behind the marching band in front of a new chairman of the eleven council. Long-time president Walter Kober has handed over the highest carnival office, which he held for more than a quarter of a century, to Christian Ziermair. The town hall keys were handed out to the new prince couple Norbert and Samira Pacher at the traditional fool’s wake on November 11th. The new monarchs of the Bad Hall carnival and the new head of government of the “Fools”, Ziermair, will have a barren Christmas holiday. Wednesday, February 14th is already Ash Wednesday, so Carnival is extremely short. “Advance sales for the carnival sessions are already going on and, fortunately, very well,” says Bartak. “We have to get our feet wet anyway for our four-hour program, which we think will be extremely fun.” In the Jahn gym, which is actually located in the Adlwanger municipality, the gymnastics club’s big band will soon be practicing at full speed. Bernhard Ruf will also reserve his evening appointments for rehearsals. The BHCC will be the only carnival club to have a parliamentarian among its carnivalists. “I will never miss out on acting at carnival,” says Ruf.
