They had gathered around the Vorarlberg country house where parliament was meeting. Twelve people were temporarily arrested to clarify their identities, the police said. As a result of the demonstration, there was a traffic jam on the Römerstraße (L190).
Blockade of the Roman road
The activists gathered again on the day of a state parliament session in the area around the country house to demonstrate against the “fossil megaproject ‘Tunnel Spider'”. The legality of the Feldkirch city tunnel has already been confirmed and the project is already being implemented. Because the forecourt of the country house was cordoned off, the demo participants gathered on the Roman road in front of the country house.
Space cleared
According to the police, the unlawful assembly – gatherings within 300 meters of the country house are prohibited during a state parliament session – was “immediately dissolved”. The activists were asked to leave the place, 34 people did not follow the call, whereupon “the place had to be cleared,” according to the police. During the traffic diversion, an older man attacked an officer, which is why he was briefly arrested. The state parliament session was never disrupted.
