Once again there was an ATM explosion at night in the Upper Mühlviertel.
Some residents of Schlägl (Rohrbach district) were woken up by a loud bang at 3:40 a.m. on Thursday night. Three perpetrators blew up an ATM in the branch. After the police arrived, the perpetrators fled in a car parked there. The police gave chase – and were able to stop the car on Czech territory. According to initial information, two of the three men were able to escape and one was arrested. “Whether the perpetrators are the same as those in the previous explosions can only be speculated at the moment,” he said Friedrich Stadlmayr from the Upper Austria State Police Directorate. Because the events were always very similar, it is likely that the explosions were connected.
As soon as more information about the crime is available, the article will be updated.
Several ATM explosions in the Mühlviertel
It was not the first time that similar scenarios occurred in the Upper Mühlviertel. On Wednesday night, the foyer in the Sparkasse Reichenthal (Urfahr-Environment district) was devastated.

Time and again, ATMs in the Mühlviertel are the target of bold robbers. It wasn’t until August and November that ATM bombers struck in the Mühlviertel. And it was always the same game: When the police arrived at the crime scene, the perpetrators had already disappeared. Until Thursday, when the police managed to arrest one of the perpetrators.
