The Progressive Party and Patria Alternativa joined the electoral race for the 2024 internal elections, while the validation of six other political forces continues in the process.
The Electoral Court confirmed the approval of two new parties, the Progressive Party and Alternative Homelandwho will join the electoral race for the 2024 internal electionswhile the registration of six other new political forces is in the process of being validated.
The two new parties will join the previous 11, which are authorized to present themselves in the internal elections that will be held on Sunday, June 30 of next year.
In the last elections, the following had run and achieved parliamentary participation: Open Town Hall (CA); he Broad Front (FA); he Colorado Party (PC); he People’s Party; he Intransigent Radical Ecologist Party (PERI)he Independent Party (PI); and the National Party (PN). Furthermore, the Digital Party; he Workers Party (PT); he Animalist Green Party and Popular Unity (UP).
The six parties seeking validation from the Electoral Court are: Enough Now!; Sovereign Identity; Liberals for the People; he Environmental Constitutional Party; he Libertarian Party; and the Scientific Democratic Society Party.
The deadline for registration of voting sheets is until May 31, 2024
José GarchitorenaMinister of the Electoral Court, explained to Subrayado that there is a deadline for the registration of voting sheets until May 31, 2024, that is, about 30 days before the elections.
In addition, Garchitorena reported that the closing of the period to be able to register in the Civic Registry expires on April 15, 2024, in the case of those who turn 18 on May 11, 2025.
Regarding the already discarded idea of some legislators who considered the possibility of requesting the Electoral Court to advance the internal elections because they coincide with the development of the Copa América United States 2024which could mean a distraction factor, the public body indicated that there was no formal request in this regard.
