Six fire departments from the Gmunden district went out to extinguish the fire in Laakirchen on Thursday morning: fire broke out in an apartment in an apartment building in Oberweis. The tenant had tried to contain the fire in the kitchen himself, but failed and raised the alarm.
Massive smoke development
Because of the massive smoke development, the emergency management decided to evacuate the house. While four residents were brought outside, respiratory protection teams were able to quickly locate and extinguish the fire. This prevented the flames from spreading to other rooms.
No one was injured, the emergency services said the damage to the kitchen area was likely to be significant. The exact cause of the fire was still under investigation on Thursday.
