Industrial exports grew for the first time in the year

The industrial exports They grew by 13.8% in November compared to the same period last year and totaled 606 million dollars, according to the monitoring carried out monthly by the Directorate of Economic Studies of the Chamber of Industries of Uruguay (CIU).

In this way, the exports of the sector increased for the first time all year, after having moved downwards during the previous ten months, accumulating a decrease of 10.2% so far in 2023.

Within the November data, the CIU highlighted that the placements of Manufactures of Industrial Origin (MOI) mobilized 132 million dollars, which implied a drop of 3.7% in comparison with the same month in 2022. In the accumulated year, the decrease deepened to 5.6%.

The sectors that had declining sales were Manufacturing of motor vehicles (20.8%), Manufacturing of plastic products (13.2%) and Manufacturing of pharmaceutical products (18%), while items such as Manufacturing of pesticides and other chemical products for agricultural use, with an improvement of 60%.

Strong rise in exports Manufactures of Agricultural Origin

In turn, the Manufactures of Agricultural Origin(MOA) stood at $474 million last month, which represents a significant increase of 19.8% compared to November 2022. In any case, the accumulated decrease in 2023 is 11.7%.

The items that boosted the sector were exports of fats of vegetable and animal origin, with a rise of 48.5%, along with those of malted and malt drinks (42.8%) and Refrigerators (27.9%), mainly thanks to the placements of meat frozen boneless beef USA.
