Less salt lowers blood pressure immediately

In many cases, the simplest antidote would be to reduce your daily salt intake. This is what a new US study suggests. Accordingly, reducing sodium salt lowers blood pressure within just a few days.

“In this prospective study with a change in the diet of 213 subjects, one week of a low-salt diet compared to a high-salt diet resulted in a reduction in systolic blood pressure of eight mmHg with few undesirable side effects. The low-salt diet lowered blood pressure – compared to the high-salt diet – “Decrease in almost 75 percent of the test subjects,” wrote Deepak Gupta from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. Instead of sodium salt, you could also use more potassium salt for seasoning, which has no effect on increasing blood pressure, according to the scientists.
