This was reported by the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture and Fisheries (MGAP), which referred in this way to the permission for the Clay refrigerator, after the first virtual audit at that plant, something that the portfolio described as “historic.”
In the last hours, the China General Administration of Customs (GACC) enabled the registration of Clay in the system CIFER, With which the meat processing plant can now export horse meat to that country.
So far, this is the only plant audited by the Chinese authorities, which will later carry out inspections in two others, with the expectation that they will be authorized to proceed with placements with China.
The export of equine meat generates expectations
The export of meat equine to China generated expectations in the sector and the president of the Society of Pure Race Horse Breeders (SCCPC), Victor Tarigo, He told Valor Added that “the interest arose from China itself, which for some time had been looking at the health issues of Uruguay”.
In principle, at a time when the country has several cases of equine encephalitis, Tarigo maintained that the Asian country seeks specimens for human consumption, but also for sporting purposes.
“As a result of a series of visits and connections with the ministry, they expressed interest in reaching an agreement of mutual cooperation,” said the president of SCCPC and anticipated that, if business is finalized in the “medium term onwards,” You could pay from 150,000 to 200,000 dollars for each copy.
