It is dark. Suddenly there is a rumble and a short scream can be heard. Then the light comes on. “Ho, ho, ho!” Mirabell wakes up from her bed. “Santa Claus! Hello, Santa!” Only said Santa Claus hit his head falling down the chimney and forgot who he was. Mirabell and her friends went in search of his memory with Santa at the Christkindlgala, which OÖNachrichten hosted together with the Linz event agency “The Crew For You” on Thursday evening.

The children and young people of the Musical Theater Academy Puchenau of the state of Upper Austria thrilled the audience with a short version of their current musical “Santa Desperately Wanted”. Fees waived for people in need
In total, more than 100 artists were on stage on Thursday evening – they all waived their fees in favor of the OÖN-Christkindl, and the net proceeds from ticket sales were also donated. In this way, artists and visitors supported people in need in Upper Austria. The state theater director presented a check for 9,000 euros Hermann Schneider and managing director Thomas Königstorfer at Susanne Dicksteineditor-in-chief of OÖNachrichten, Rudolf A. and Gino Cuturi as well as on Magdalena Glasner from “Be So Free”. “This evening is a highlight of the theater season every year,” says Königstorfer.

The other 70 percent – 6,300 euros – will go to the Christkindlaktion: “This year we noticed that people in Upper Austria have a new concern: many have difficulty meeting the costs of everyday life,” says Dickstein. Cuturi was moved to tears: “It’s a great joy every year to be able to help people and save them from greater hardship.”

A highlight of the gala was her interpretation of “Balm of Gilead”: her soulful voice took the audience away from the full hall into another world.
Pure Christmas spirit right from the start

Andie Gabauer brought enthusiasm to the audience when he invited everyone to sing along to “Last Christmas”. With “Imagine” he performed a song that is intended to push the sadness and imbalances of today’s world into the background – and therefore went very well with the evening.
Traditional and modern
They showed old Upper Austrian traditions Mouthfingers Goassl smacking, accompanied by Christl on the accordion. They cracked their whips during the Christmas medley to songs such as “Jingle Bells” or “Snowflakes, Whitecoats”. After them entered Bede with palm tree the stage – which mixed traditional Austrian sounds of the accordion with reggae sounds. With his mixer he presented a slightly different interpretation of the song “O Tannenbaum”, which turned into “O Palmenbaum” towards the end.
The performance of the 40 young people who together performed the “Hard Choir: The New Generation“. They filled the entire hall with their voices. At the atmospheric conclusion, Karoline Ploberger and Eric Papilaya once again invited all of the evening’s artists onto the stage to sing “It’s going to be so good” with them and the audience. The Christmas feeling The solidarity was particularly noticeable in the last minutes of the atmospheric evening.
