The siblings play different musical instruments, mom or dad learned a completely different one years ago, but grandma and grandpa also want to pick up the instrument and they all want to play music together at Christmas. So that this intention does not fail, as is often the case, due to the lack of suitable notes, Franz Zaun Schirm has decided to provide the notes for five well-known Christmas carols for a total of more than 30 different instruments. The composer and university professor at the Mozarteum in Salzburg lives in St. Pantaleon and loves Christmas carols. “Even when I was a teenager, I was fascinated by Advent: playing the organ, blowing the tower, singing Advent and Christmas carols still have a permanent place in my life today,” he says. He has already published more than 300 special arrangements for flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, horns, trombones and even tuba ensembles. The songs specially selected for Advent and Christmas should be easy to play for the respective instrument. This is very important not only for young people, but especially for older people who are alone and want to pick up an instrument again.
