The former president of Antel and Colorado pre-candidate for the presidency of Uruguay, Gabriel Gurméndez, harshly questioned the stance on the plebiscite against the social security reform of the mayor of Montevideo and also a pre-candidate—for Frente Amplio—, Carolina Cosse. “He proposes to do the same thing he did Cristina Kirchner in Argentina”, he pointed.
The electoral campaign has already begun, and not only in terms of party internalities – while the definition of the candidacies will be the first step to take, in the June elections – but also with crossovers between the main figures of both coalitions. Thus, after a week marked by differences with respect to the Marset scandalthe plebiscite against the social security reform promoted by the PIT-CNT returned to the center of the discussion.
“Heading to the catastrophe”, Gurméndez titled his brief reflection on social networks regarding the announcement of cosse that he will sign the ballot of the union center, which seeks a reform constitutional in pension matters.

“Cosse supports the confiscation, that is, the theft of the individual savings of Uruguayans in the AFAPS that guarantee future retirements,” stated the Colorado leader, and added that the capital leader “is promoting a constitutional reform that is going to melt the BPS”.
Likewise, he went a step further when comparing her with the former president and former vice president of Argentina, Cristina Kirchner, “who ruined the retirement system and led his country to the worst social and economic crisis of history.” According to Gurméndez, Cosse “proposes doing the same.”
“There are no two interpretations: that means signing for this plebiscite,” he assured, in reference to the argument of the Broad Front candidate to support the PIT-CNT signature meeting campaign that “signing is an action that simply plebiscites our disapproval of the current reform.
Finally, Gurméndez pointed out that “Cosse is hostage of communists and socialistsand the PIT CNT, and he cannot get away from those who support his candidacy.”
Cosse’s confirmation on the plebiscite
The mayor of Montevideo and presidential candidate for the Frente Amplio, Carolina Cosse, defined that he will sign the plebiscite of PIT-CNT against social security reform, considering that it is “a bad law” that was passed in April of this year in the Parliament.
Cosse made his decision known through social networks, arguing that “signing is an action that plebiscites our disapproval of the current reform,” thus ruling differently than the mayor of Canelones, Yamandu Orsi, his main rival in the internal Broad Front.
The department head assured that the social security reform “It is a bad law,” which is why he called for “a deep process of social dialogue” to modify it and called for “a necessary collective reflection.”
In turn, he called on the people to sign the plebiscite, regardless of whether they agree with the reform, so that “the people can express themselves” and recalled that “if the signatures are obtained, this returns to the Parliament”.
