Police officers with service dogs and firefighters with drones were on duty in the municipality of Tiefgraben (Vöcklabruck district) on Saturday after a 69-year-old local woman was reported missing. The pensioner’s husband noticed her absence around 1 a.m. and first looked for her himself. At around 3:45 a.m. he called the police, who launched a search operation.

In the early hours of the morning, emergency services from the Hof and St. Lorenz fire departments as well as the drone group from the Mondsee section fire department also arrived to provide support. 29 men were deployed, and several drones searched for the missing person from the air over a large area. In the morning there was the tragic discovery in the town of Hof: the 69-year-old was found dead on the banks of the Zeller Ache.

Autopsy ordered
The exact circumstances of her death were still under investigation on Saturday. Initially it was assumed that there was a fall. The Wels public prosecutor’s office ordered an autopsy to clarify the cause of death. The relatives were cared for by a Red Cross crisis intervention team.
