Avalanche in South Tyrol claimed one life

The man was traveling with another winter sports enthusiast in Pflersch when he was caught and buried by a 260 meter wide and 80 meter long avalanche. His companion was dragged around 150 meters but remained on the surface.

The 27-year-old from Trentino was initially able to be dug out by his companion and resuscitated by the mountain rescue team. . He was then flown to the Bolzano hospital with serious injuries. But he died there a little later, South Tyrolean media reported.
