Maria Gabriel-Oberngruber, an entrepreneur from Aigen-Schlägl, was presented as a “role model” by Woman in Business. “g’lernt is g’lernt”, an initiative by Women in Business (FidW), puts the spotlight on women who have successfully made their way to self-employment through an apprenticeship. This initiative is intended to show young women that apprenticeship is a successful educational and career path that can also lead to self-employment. “Through the ‘g’lernt is g’lernt’ initiative, we are giving girls and women, far from all role clichés, the option of self-employment,” explained Margit Angerlehner, state chairwoman of Women in Business.

The entrepreneur Maria Gabriel-Oberngruber has been running her garden design business GartenVerde GmbH in Aigen-Schlägl since June 2020. She now has 30 employees and five apprentices. “Through my summer work and getting a taste of this profession, I was able to immediately rule out other professions. The creativity and joy of craftsmanship as well as the teamwork are what characterize this profession for me,” says Gabriel-Oberngruber about her apprenticeship as a garden and landscape gardener and the path into independence. Gabriel-Oberngruber offers everything related to the garden and garden design in her center. She specializes in design and garden concepts. “Apprenticeship is an important and good foundation for a successful start in the professional world. Dual training covers the entire career profile very well, both technically and practically in all areas,” says the entrepreneur about the importance of apprenticeships and dual training.
