During the exercise, Ukrainian pilots violated the Belarusian border. This was announced on Saturday, December 4, at the State Border Committee of Belarus.
“Today, December 4, at about 12 noon, a violation of the airspace of the Republic of Belarus from Ukraine was recorded at the Belarusian-Ukrainian border near the Novaya Rudnya checkpoint of the Mozyr border guard detachment,” BelTA quotes a statement from the State Border Committee.
It is noted that “the Ukrainian military helicopter Mi-8 at an altitude of about 100 m crossed the state border and flew to a depth of 1 km into the territory of Belarus.”
“The Ukrainian side has been informed about this incident,” the State Border Committee said.
On November 24, Ukraine launched a special operation “Polesie” on the border with Belarus in order to prevent the migration crisis. According to the first deputy chairman of the state border service Vladimir Nikiforenko, law enforcement agencies are jointly taking measures to build up the border protection system.
It is also noted that aviation, unmanned aerial systems, as well as technical means of observation will be used to guard the border.
In turn, Oleg Gaidukevich, deputy chairman of the Belarusian parliamentary commission on international affairs, positively assessed the fact that Kiev has strengthened the border, since all the problems, according to him, come from the Ukrainian side, for example, illegal arms trafficking and crime.
In September last year, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the country was forced to close the borders with Lithuania and Poland and increase security on the border with Ukraine. The Belarusian leader appealed to the peoples of these countries with an appeal to stop their politicians and prevent them from starting a war.
