Erdogan renames Turkey’s trade brand

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed a decree to change the export brand of Turkey, the country’s products will now be produced under the name Türkiye. The corresponding document was published on December 3 on the website of the Resmi Gazete.

The decree notes that the decision is “the next comprehensive step, reflecting the rich culture and heritage of the country.” The new name is aimed at confirming the good faith of Turkish exporters. It is indicated that the term Türkiye fully reflects the culture and values of the Turkish people.

Now Turkish products will be exported under the Made in Türkiye brand instead of Made in Turkey.

Also, in all official documents of the republic, instead of the words Turkey, Turkei, Turquie, a single variant will be used – Türkiye.

Earlier, on July 30, Turkish Trade Minister Mehmet Mush said during the 21st joint meeting of the Russian-Turkish Business Council that Turkey expects trade turnover with Russia over $ 30 billion by the end of the year. According to him, due to the coronavirus pandemic last year, trade between the countries fell by 10%, amounting to about $ 20 billion. In the first half of 2021, trade between the countries began to develop rapidly.

At the moment, the trade between Russia and Turkey is approximately at the level of $ 22-25 billion, said, in turn, the chairman of the Turkish-Russian Business Council Mitkhat Yenigun.
