In dialogue with Ambit, the president the Uruguayan Renewable Energy Association (AUDER), Marcelo Mula, described as a “milestone” of the sector the creation of this association founded by five chambers that are part of the sphere of the green hydrogen. “The association is a chamber of chambers,” she explained and confirmed that, in addition to the founders, others joined.
Among the founders are the Uruguayan Association of Renewable Energies (AUDER), the Chamber of Industry of Uruguay (CIU), the Chamber of Construction of Uruguay (CCU), the Uruguayan Association of Private Electric Power Generators (AUGPEE) and the Uruguayan Chamber of Logistics (CALOG).
On the other hand, after its foundation, others were added such as the Uruguayan – German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (AHK) and the Chamber of Commerce Uruguay – Nordic Countries (CAUN).
According to Mula, the association brings together all the chambers that are part of the links that make up the sector. green hydrogen. “It is an association to promote the economy of the hydrogen in it Uruguay treated from various perspectives and all together at the same table,” explained the president of AUDER who assured that the objective is to generate meetings with the government and be able to follow up on the issues.
“Next year it will be very active and will work in commissions to lift the barriers that we have identified in the sector so that the projects that are on the table can be realized and attract new investments,” explained the president of AUDER., who currently holds the temporary presidency of the association.
Actions against the uncertainty of the elections
This year was a breakthrough for the sector. green hydrogen and it is expected that 2024 will be more inclined towards the realization of investors and the project development stage will be left behind. However, being an election year, the possibilities of advancing initiatives of this magnitude are often postponed until when there are more political stability. In that sense, the president of AUDER advanced one of the first actions of the Uruguayan Hydrogen Association for next year.
“From the hydrogen association we are promoting the signing of a multiparty agreement where the new roadmap approved two months ago is agreed upon where the political parties, beyond the elections, sign and commit to there being a State policy in favor of the development of the sector,” explained Mula.
Meanwhile, the president of AUDER doubted that the pact could be signed this year, although he assured that all the political parties of the Uruguay They have consensus that the advancement of this sector will be a benefit for the country. “It would be essential to have a formal commitment,” Mula noted.
