The economic partnership project with USA was presented in the Parliament of that country and includes the visa exemption for Uruguayan citizens, after the Republican congresswoman Maria Elvira Salazar would qualify Uruguay as “an example of economic freedom.”

“I am proud to introduce this legislation that expands our ties with Uruguay by increasing opportunities for economic and cultural exchange between our two nations,” he highlighted Salazar, by valuing the country for being “a reliable partner.”

What the bill entails
The economic association law is one more step in the bilateral relationship that would provide Uruguay the benefits of Caribbean Basin Economic Recovery Law, such as tax-free entry to USA for certain products, as indicated by the office of Salazar.
In this regard, the country joins those whose citizens are eligible for admission to the North American country as E1 and E2 nonimmigrants, while demanding a report on the eligibility of Uruguay for the visa waiver program, which allows nationals to enter USA without a tourist or business visa for less than 90 days.
