Harald Stöcher (52) will move to the Pyhrn-Eisenwurzen Klinikum (PEK) Steyr in the new year and take over the management of the trauma surgery department there. He follows Prime Minister Wolfgang Riedelberger, who is retiring after 22 years at the helm.
Stöcher has been heading the trauma surgery department at PEK Kirchdorf since March, which he will continue to head for the time being. In the future, there will be a separate department for orthopedics and traumatology at both locations.
Stöcher was born in Linz and studied medicine in Graz: “In its entirety and diversity, trauma surgery is the area of medicine that was my calling from the start.” After training as a general practitioner, he became a specialist in trauma surgery at what was then the Linz General Hospital. He also completed training in sports traumatology, the emergency medicine diploma and the diploma in osteopathy and has been a specialist in orthopedics and trauma surgery since 2018. In addition to general trauma surgery, his professional focus is on pelvic surgery, spinal surgery and neurotraumatology.
Harald Stöcher lives with his wife and two children in Micheldorf. In his free time he enjoys forestry work in his own forest, quiet moments in his woodworking shop and keeps fit by mountain biking.
