This week the first stage of one of the most anticipated projects in the east of the country was inaugurated: Atlantic shopping in Tip of the This. The construction of the first stage of the project involved an approximate investment of 100 million dollars for the development of Atlántico Shopping and the first residential tower More Atlantic. The work, which began in 2021, has generated direct jobs for more than 950 people in its final stages.

Javier Lazarusfinancial manager of Altus Group, told Ambit that the bet on an investment of this type in Maldonado It has to do with the growth of the city in every sense. “It is one of the few that is growing population wise and also economically, especially with what has happened with migration in recent years, that made us think about a project of this type,” said the businessman.
“There is a fairly significant change in Punta del Este from being a spa to being a year-round city. Our location is absolutely strategic. The property’s characteristic makes it quite unique because it has very good connectivity, both with Maldonadowhich is where the public is all year round, as with the rest of the areas of Punta del Este and other spas in the department,” he pointed out.
The shopping center has a differential characteristic according to Lazaro that has to do with its “connection” with nature, with several green spaces and a large outdoor terrace.
Outlook for the season
The Altius Group executive and head of Atlántico Shopping showed his optimism regarding the summer season. “We believe that the season is going to be better than what is anticipated, at least a priori due to the problem of competitiveness of currency”, he analyzed and added: “For the last days of December and the first of January there is a very good percentage of reserves in Punta del Este and surrounding spas, which suggests that the start of the season is going to be very good.”
