He is believed to have been the victim of a violent crime. Police reached out to the public on Thursday with a photo and questions. Please contact the Lower Austria State Criminal Police Office on 059133-30-3333 for information.

“Thoughtful discovery situation”

The initially unknown body was discovered on company premises on the morning of March 30th. Because the discovery situation was worrying, the Lower Austria State Criminal Police Office (body/life, crime scene and search assistance areas) took over the investigation. The Korneuburg public prosecutor’s office ordered an autopsy of the body.

In cooperation with Czech police authorities, it was possible to identify the dead man. It was 39-year-old Radek B. from the Czech Republic. According to the Lower Austria State Police Directorate, a relative had already reported the disappearance to the Brno criminal police on January 10th.

Search for contact persons

Regarding the status of the investigation, it was said on Thursday that national and international surveys had shown that Radek B. probably traveled by train from the Czech Republic via Slovakia to Austria on January 6th. In the afternoon of that day, the 39-year-old was in the Gänserndorf district, in the Marchegg area, and in the evening in the Gänserndorf area. Contact persons or specific whereabouts have not yet been identified.

Radek B. has been to Vienna occasionally in the past, where he is said to have carried out odd jobs in drywall construction on construction sites. According to the police, from the time of entry into Austria on January 6th until the body was found on March 30th, there was no information about contact persons or addresses. So far, no connection has been established between Radek B. and the gravel pit in the Gänserndorf district.

Body must have been dumped

According to the State Police Directorate, the report of a forensic medical expert showed that due to the questionable discovery situation (sparse clothing, no personal belongings) “it can be assumed that the body was transported and dumped postmortem” in Schönkichen-Reyersdorf. For tactical reasons, no information was given about the cause of the man’s death.

Radek B was about 1.85 meters tall and weighed 90 kilos. His physique was described as strong and muscular.

Police are asking for information

The Lower Austrian criminal investigators now want to know who can provide useful information about the Czech man, especially with regard to connections (contact persons, whereabouts, etc.) to Austria, and who saw the man on January 6th, especially in the Marchegg and Gänserndorf area (possibly in the area of public transport stops in the Gänserndorf district) and who can provide information about the 39-year-old’s contacts before January 2023, on January 6th and in the following weeks.

Localization: The body was found in Schönkirchen-Reyersdorf
