It was already dark and the weather was bad when a 35-year-old from the Ried district drove on the L1102 from Geinberg towards Gurten. In St. Georgen near Obernberg he probably saw the 3 pedestrians on the side of the road too late due to poor visibility.
One of the men was hit by the car and thrown through the air into an adjacent field. The 38-year-old Ukrainian citizen was seriously injured and had to be treated by an emergency doctor and taken to hospital. His 24- and 27-year-old compatriots were uninjured in the accident.
